Overview
Leadership Advantage is expertly placed to assist and accelerate the initial learning curve of the successful executive as they commence their new role with their employer.
Our existing knowledge of the client company, its culture and our relationships therein, provide an invaluable start to the new executive. The additional information gathered during the search, coupled with the established relationship and understanding with the candidate enables us to ensure a faster and positive embedding into the company
During the first ninety days of commencement, a newly appointed executive works to meet with their direct reports, staff and stakeholders to determine the issues and to gain an understanding of each person on the team, be they peers, superiors or direct reports. In response they develop their plan for moving forward.
Leadership Advantage is expertly placed to hasten this process through the extensive work done during the search and selection process.
Drawing on knowledge gained during the process we can provide background on the role, the key challenges as seen from each of the stakeholders, direct reports and peers we have interviewed. These interactions also provide JFE with insight into the personality and modus operandii of each individual, including the candidate’s direct manager. In some cases we can provide a detailed view on the capabilities of any direct reports who may have applied for the role.
We can offer insight and suggested approaches to dealing with individuals and relate their stated priorities. We are often able to provide briefing regarding the workload within the specific department the candidate will be managing.
Leadership Advantage provides a “safe” executive level confidante who can act as a sounding board and expedite the new executive’s understanding of the role and company.
Throughout the process we are able to provide constructive advice and guidance (whilst maintaining confidentiality) back to the recruiting executive whilst fast-tracking the learning curve of the new executive.
How does it work?
The executive advisor briefs the executive using the data gathered in the search process. The executive uses this knowledge of company and people as a working base, to “hit the ground running”. The data is confirmed and quickly expanded on to determine the key issues ahead and what needs to be addressed in the first ninety days. Objectives are set and plans developed to support their achievement.
Throughout the first three months, the executive advisor supports the executive in achieving their objectives, offering experienced insight on issues gained through practical experience, providing support throughout the process whilst facilitating the development and embedding of new skills as needed.
The executive advisor provides feedback (where appropriate) to the direct manager for the purpose of identifying opportunities that would further assist the learning curve of the new executive.
