The University of Western Sydney is one of Australia's largest universities. With more than 40,000 students currently enrolled, the University's mission is to link its teaching and learning activities with the development of the Greater Western Sydney region. Poised for further growth, the University, like the region it serves, is dynamic and enterprising. It embraces diversity and is committed to excellence, access and opportunity.
The University of Western Sydney seeks to appoint forward thinking academic leaders in the fields of Public Health and Sport and Exercise Science. Ideally, the University wishes to appoint a Level E Professor to both roles, however an appointment at Level D will be considered for high-calibre Associate Professor candidates.
Each role is responsible for fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among academic staff; contributing to the strategic direction of the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences; building strong research teams and networks within UWS and the wider national and international research community; conducting and leading significant research; and co-ordination and teaching of relevant academic units.
As head of the Masters programs, the Professor/Associate Professor of Public Health will have the ability to raise the research profile of the School while leading and managing postgraduate students. The Professor/Associate Professor of Sport and Exercise Science may also take on a Head of Program role subject to other responsibilities and contributions.
The successful candidate for each role will demonstrate: significant standing in the relevant field; excellence in research and teaching; a distinguished publication record; substantial professional networks in one or more sub-disciplines; and outstanding interpersonal skills. A PhD or equivalent in the relevant field is essential.
Both roles are based at the Campbelltown campus.
