Fisher is now 6 months old and has clearly been thriving at GDV, having recently completed the 16 week puppy class. This important milestone means that Fisher can now socialise in places that domestic pet dogs cannot go. Fisher has been trained to comfortably and confidently attend the post office, newsagency, or supermarket, whilst making sure that stimuli of other dogs, food scrap temptations, ride on toys and trolleys do not get the better of his puppy tendencies!
Fisher recently made a surprise guest appearance at JFE's Annual Company Conference and proved a major hit with our team, interviewing well ! Fisher has recently been re-homed to a new Puppy Raiser in Phillip Island and now lives with another GDV training pup and, from all accounts, is thoroughly enjoying his sea change. His new family travel regularly to Melbourne and we are told that Fisher is growing into a very well rounded and socialised Guide Dog.
Guide Dogs Victoria is one of Victoria's most trusted and respected charities and provides more than 70% of the working Guide Dogs to blind or vision impaired Victorians. The team at JFE are thrilled at Fisher's development and proud of their continued association with Guide Dogs Victoria.
